WHO WE ARE

 

 

 

 

       This web site is an outreach of the Pottawatomie County Jail Ministry, located in Shawnee, Oklahoma, USA.  The jail ministry was begun in 1983 by the Ministerial Association of Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.  The jail ministry team presently consists of about sixteen lay and licensed ministers. 

 It is an effort involving men and women from many Christian denominations to spread the "good news" and to follow Jesus to:

proclaim release for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,

to let the broken victims go free,

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor (Luke 4:18).

     This ministry is devoted to the basic message of salvation, such as all Christians can agree with, regardless of church affiliation.  It is an example of spiritual unity at work.  We pray for the unity of all the churches.  We pray for laborers in the harvest, for the harvest is ripe, but the laborers are few.

  We love the Lord our God Jesus Christ and we believe his words,

John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;

John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

Once we lived in darkness, but he has lifted us into light. 

    Our joy is to proclaim the truth of salvation available even now, and to share the kingdom of heaven especially with those who find themselves in jail, or who have been in jail, or who have loved ones in jail. 

"In the world you will have trouble.  But courage!  This victory is mine," said Jesus (John 16:33).

NASB  "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

      We also bear witness to the Spirit of Jesus Christ that is in the world.  Through his Spirit we have seen many lives changed and brought to salvation.  Faith brings us into the kingdom of heaven, but the joy of eternal life which we can have even now is to know God, for

"This is eternal life: to know thee who alone art truly God, and Jesus Christ whom thou sent" (John 17:3).
